Pullwood Bay is situated on Lake Windermere opposite the Cumbrian town of Ambleside. For over 10 years, or more, my family and I have stayed at an apartment in a converted boys school located by the side of the lake. A wooden jetty in the front garden allows for quiet reflection both before breakfast, and at the end of strenuous fell walking days. Geese ‘honking’ on a nearby island, drown what little noise pollution there is from traffic on the other side of the lake. At these times of day there are, sometimes just for a few moments, spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
