Muston Scarecrow Festival

Updated: Dec 6, 2020

I grew up in Muston. We lived in Bank House on Hunmanby street, opposite the village Post Office, from 1961- 1972. They were some of the happiest days of my life. Do I need a reason

to visit? Not really.

The village held a Scarecrow Festival each year, from it’s conception in 1999 until 2018. Whenever I was able, I attended and made a record of the exhibits. The car park (a farmers field) had a charge of £1 and was constantly full...the village hall served tea and coffee, with cakes and pastries baked by the local residents, proceeds from both were split between the village repair fund and a designated charity.

In 2018 it was decided that the festival should cease, volunteers numbers had dwindled and it was becoming increasingly difficult for people to commit to the event. Here are the images I took during my five visits to the festival, enjoy and smile...a lot.
